I know it's a bit sad and I never really understood it outside of competition/concours type situations but when I bought my Foz three years ago the engine bay was so dirty that the simplest of tasks meant out with the hand scrub afterwards, soap wasn't sufficient.

I did clean the engine bay on our TDI once in the 13 years we had it because a VW dealership did it on it once so I figured why not?
